Skin rejuvenation without lasers or needles

Tixel Facial Aesthetics
in Los Angeles

Fine lines, crow's feet, crepey eyelid skin, and uneven texture respond to a treatment that works with your skin's own repair process. Tixel uses precisely controlled heat, not light energy or injections, to resurface the skin in a fractional pattern. At Berg-Feinfield, it is performed by an ophthalmology practice that treats the delicate skin around the eyes every day.

The short answer

What Tixel does for your skin

Tixel is a fractional thermal skin rejuvenation treatment. A heated titanium tip covered in tiny pyramids touches the skin for a fraction of a second, transferring heat to create a grid of microscopic treatment points surrounded by untouched skin. As the skin heals, it produces new collagen and a smoother surface. Patients use it for fine lines, crow's feet, eyelid and under-eye skin, texture, and mild laxity. There is no laser, no light, and no needle, and it is typically done as a series of short in-office sessions.

Looking for Tixel as a dry eye treatment? That is a different protocol on the same technology platform. See Tixel dry eye treatment, or start with the Tixel overview. Our complete aesthetic menu is on the facial aesthetics page.

Thermal energy, fractional pattern

How Tixel skin rejuvenation works

Heat by direct contact, measured in milliseconds.

01

Contact

The treatment tip is a small titanium plate studded with 81 tiny pyramids. It is heated to a precise temperature and touched to the skin for a fraction of a second. Only the pyramid tips contact the skin, so the heat is delivered in a fractional grid.

02

Micro-channels

Each contact point creates a microscopic zone of thermal treatment surrounded by healthy, untouched skin. The intensity and depth are set by the clinician: lighter for a gentle refresh with minimal downtime, stronger for deeper lines and laxity.

03

Repair

Over the following weeks the skin responds by remodeling collagen and renewing its surface. Texture smooths, fine lines soften, and the skin around the eyes looks firmer. A series of treatments builds on this response.

Where Tixel helps most

Treatment areas

Tixel is used across the face, but it is especially valued for the areas where lasers and injectables are hardest to use well: the thin skin of the eyelids and the region around the eyes.

  • Upper and lower eyelids, where crepey skin and fine creasing are common and surgery is not always wanted
  • Crow's feet at the outer corners of the eyes
  • Under-eye skin with fine lines and texture change
  • Forehead and glabella lines, often alongside Botox
  • Cheeks, for texture, pores, and sun-related change
  • Lines around the mouth and mild laxity along the jawline

Because the treatment uses heat rather than light, it is not limited by skin pigment the way many light-based devices are. Your clinician will confirm suitability for your skin type and goals at your consultation.

Why Berg-Feinfield

Eye-area skin treatment from an ophthalmology practice

The eyelid is where our training lives.

Eye-adjacent expertise

Ophthalmologists study the anatomy of the eyelids and orbit in depth and operate on them. Treating the skin millimeters from the eye, with the eye properly protected, is familiar ground.

Conservative by default

Settings are chosen for a natural result and a recovery you can plan around. We would rather build improvement over a series than overtreat in one session.

Every option on the table

Botox, fillers, blepharoplasty, and Tixel are all available here, so the recommendation is based on what will actually address your concern, not on the one device in the room.

Comfort, recovery, and realistic expectations

What to expect before, during, and after

Before. Your consultation covers your skin concerns, medical history, medications, prior treatments, sun exposure, and any history of cold sores or skin conditions. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup. A topical numbing cream is applied, and protective eye shields are used for treatment near the eyes.

During. Each contact produces a brief sensation of heat and prickling. A full-face session takes well under an hour, and smaller areas such as the eyelids take only minutes.

After. Redness, warmth, and mild swelling are expected the first day or two, followed by tiny surface crusts that resolve over roughly three to five days. Do not pick at the skin. Use the gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and broad-spectrum sunscreen your clinician recommends, and avoid direct sun during healing. Makeup can usually be resumed after a short interval your clinician will specify.

Results. Improvement appears gradually over several weeks as collagen remodels, and continues to build across a series of treatments. Results vary with age, skin condition, treatment intensity, and aftercare. Share any active skin problems, recent procedures, or relevant medical conditions so your plan and its risks can be explained for your situation.

Questions patients ask

Tixel facial aesthetics FAQs

What is Tixel facial aesthetics treatment?

Tixel is a fractional skin rejuvenation treatment that uses heat rather than laser light or needles. A heated titanium tip with a grid of tiny pyramids briefly touches the skin, transferring thermal energy to create a pattern of microscopic treatment points. The skin's natural repair response improves the appearance of fine lines, texture, and laxity over the following weeks.

Which areas can Tixel treat?

Tixel is used on the face and around the eyes, including the eyelids, crow's feet, under-eye skin, forehead, cheeks, and the lines around the mouth. The eyelid and periorbital area is where Berg-Feinfield's ophthalmology background is especially relevant, since the skin there is thin and close to the eye.

Is Tixel a laser?

No. Lasers and IPL deliver light energy. Tixel delivers heat by direct contact with a heated tip. There is no light involved, no ablation beam, and no needles, which is one reason it can be used close to the eyes with protective shields in place.

How many Tixel treatments will I need?

Most patients are treated in a series, commonly three sessions spaced several weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. The number depends on your skin, your goals, and the intensity chosen for each area. Your clinician will outline the plan at your consultation.

What is the downtime after Tixel?

Expect redness, warmth, and mild swelling for the first day or two, followed by tiny surface crusts that resolve over roughly three to five days as the skin heals. Makeup can usually be applied after a short interval your clinician specifies, and diligent sun protection is essential. Lower-intensity settings produce less downtime; higher settings produce more improvement and more recovery.

Does Tixel hurt?

A topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. During treatment most patients feel brief heat and a prickling sensation at each contact. Discomfort is short-lived and subsides quickly once the session ends.

How is Tixel different from Botox, fillers, or eyelid surgery?

Botox relaxes the muscles that crease the skin, fillers restore volume, and blepharoplasty removes excess eyelid skin or fat. Tixel improves the quality of the skin itself: fine lines, texture, and mild laxity. The treatments address different problems and are often combined. A consultation at Berg-Feinfield compares all of them honestly rather than fitting every concern to one device.
