If you are a highly myopic patient, you have probably seen an eye doctor quite a few times. You have probably also realized that LASIK eye surgery may not the best option either.
Berg Feinfield Vision Correction is one of a select few eye care practices in the Beverly Hills region that can insert the new EVO ICL (also called the Implantable Collamer Lens), created by STAAR® Surgical Company. The EVO ICL is a phakic intraocular lens (IOL) to treat myopia and other refractive errors.
The Berg Feinfield Vision Correction surgeons are EVO ICL experts who can help you with high myopia. If you have been struggling with thick glasses and poor distance vision, please call us to find out if this vision correction option would be right for you.
The EVO ICL is a long-lasting solution for refractive error. Through its myopia treatment, the EVO ICL offers excellent quality of vision.
Schedule Free ConsultationIndividuals who suffer from extreme nearsightedness will have a solution for their poor vision. The EVO ICL provides an opportunity for those individuals who are not candidates for LASIK eye surgery.
Some people cannot have LASIK for reasons ranging from high prescriptions to thin corneas. The EVO ICL will now allow these patients to experience the same lifestyle change that LASIK has brought to millions.
You’re likely a good candidate for the EVO ICL if:
Quality of Vision – The EVO ICL not only improves visual acuity but also improves produces visual quality. Many patients experience the “Wow” factor when they experience an immediate improvement in the quality of their vision.
Biocompatibility – Collamer, the 100 percent pure collagen copolymer lens material of the EVO ICL, is not viewed as a foreign object by the body’s immune system.
Versatility – The EVO ICL offers a broader treatment range for myopia than LASIK and PRK procedures.
Simplicity – Unlike traditional contact lenses, once the EVO ICL is implanted in the eye, no additional maintenance is needed.
Lens Placement – The placement of the EVO ICL makes the lens invisible to the patient and any observer.
Removable – The EVO ICL was designed to be permanently placed in the eye. However, the lens can be removed if a patient’s vision changes or if it otherwise needs to be removed or replaced.
Before the EVO ICL procedure, you'll have your eyes numbed with a light topical or local anesthetic. After numbing your eyes, your surgeon will create two side port incisions and one main temporal incision critical to the insertion process.
Next, the surgeon will insert the EVO ICL through the main temporal incision and place the lens behind the iris and in front of the crystalline lens. This insertion procedure is typically performed on both eyes the same day, similar to LASIK.
There is very little discomfort and normally no pain associated with the procedure. Some drops or perhaps oral medication may be prescribed, and a visit is usually scheduled the day after surgery. Patients will be advised to arrange for someone to drive them to and from surgery.
